Our Teachers!

Mike is the founder of Michael Volz Piano Lessons and has taught for over 15 years. In that time, he began to notice that many children would excel by learning by ear or by composing. He has created his own piano teaching method and teaches it to his teachers. He loves arranging the hymns and has them recorded and uploaded to youtube here

Hey there, I'm Jessica McOmber! When I was seven I begged my parents to enroll me in piano lessons, and I'm so glad they did! I absolutely love everything about piano. Throughout my years of playing, I have competed in many competitions, won many awards and scholarships, and have even been invited to perform for all sorts of occasions. I have loved spreading my joy for piano to students for the past seven years and I'm excited to share it with others!

Holden has been playing the piano for 25 years. He's only recently gotten into teaching and is excited to share the Volz method with his students. Holden grew up in Santa Clara, Utah with three older brothers who all play the piano. Music has always been a big part of his life, and some of his favorite memories of school were playing percussion in marching band, pep band, and pit orchestra, where he decided his favorite instrument was the timpani. In his free time, Holden enjoys birding, photography, composing songs and turning them into ringtones, and playing with his wife Emily and their 7-year-old son Rivers.

Kyla grew up in Salem, UT and is currently a student at Brigham Young University studying both Editing and Publishing and Theatre Arts Studies. Besides playing piano, Kyla enjoys cooking, crocheting, hiking, watching or being in musicals, and hanging out with her new husband, Tanner, who she just married in March of 2020.

Avery is from beautiful North Liberty, Iowa and is currently studying Dance at Brigham Young University. Avery began playing piano at age five and hasn't stopped playing since. She has served as a ward pianist for the past 8 years and likewise has experience performing as both a soloist and accompanist  in competition and performance settings.   She taught piano lessons throughout her teen years and quickly discovered her passion for teaching.  Avery truly enjoys being able to watch her students learn and progress as they come to love piano as much as she does. In her spare time, Avery likes to attempt to cook, spend time outside, read anything and everything, and run at a less than speedy pace.
